The date has been confirmed for CandyBall 10: TBA = the make up party I owe everyone who bought a ticket for my last failed party! I'm sure you noticed there was a nice big warning on the page, not to visit it.. right?

The exploit was very simple, and to be honest, there was absolutely nothing I nor anyone else could do to prevent it.
OpenX, the software that was running our banners was compromised.
This was something that could have happened to anyone running the OpenX software.
Granted, it's been patched since, but there was never a security release or anything else sent out about the problem from their tech-blog.
I find that kinda shady of them, but.. that's another story.

I spent a good 2 days searching logs and whatnot trying to find the problem, and was damn close to giving up.
Finally, I had a friend who got 2 of his sites hit as well.. he was running OpenX.
We found out how it happened, and patched it.

The problem being, it's been patched for a while, but Google had to re-index the site, which took about 48hrs.



Now... if you actually clicked through to the site, there's a chance you could have virus/malware.
The Malware is relatively harmless to most people's machines, but this doesn't mean you shouldn't get it checked out
The version I got hit with scraped all FTP credentials (only IF you used them) and then infected those sites with more Malware, causing an epidemic.
I saw the malware install on my machine, but didn't catch it in time before it completed.
One of my other sites got hit with a Malware attack, and it's been a hell of a bad little experience here.

Either way, all is back, we should be ok, and if you DID get hit with something, make sure it's clean and/or consider just wiping your box.

Thanks to all the emails, texts, and phone calls from friends and fellow ravers, combined with some poking and prodding from the RO staff of course, I have finally made my mind up and have decided to do one more Candyball. The final Candyball will be next year sometime in NYC and will hopefully bring our little New York City Happy Hardcore Revolution full circle.
